I was pleased with this story.  Every once in a while I come across stories like these which reminds me why I enjoy reading.  I love reading stories where the emotions are so intense that you can’t help but feel all that the characters are going through.  I like it when a story can make me feel every possible emotion that a human being is capable of feeling.  That being said, Make Me Whole was that book for me.  From the moment I loaded it on my Kindle and began reading I had a difficult time putting it down. It was that intense.

The heroine, Jamie Caldwell, was taken hostage while on a humanitarian mission. She experienced unspeakable horrors which left her broken physically and mentally.  She is a fighter as such she is going through physical and mental therapy in a bid to get her life back on track. Her physical therapist and best friend, Becca Callaway, recommended that she work with her brother Cole so her prospects of recovery would improve.  Cole Callaway is a former marine who has had his share of trauma while serving in Afghanistan as such he is able to relate to what Jamie had gone through while being held hostage.  He currently operates a clinic for wounded war veterans.

The attraction between Jamie and Cole was evident from the moment they laid eyes on each other. They tried fighting the attraction as they did not want it to affect their professional relationship which may have a negative impact on Jamie’s recovery. However, we all know fights only last as long as the parties involve wants it to.  They could not keep fighting and so they decided to accept the inevitable and from that instant things became explosive.  However, the road to true love never runs smoothly. There are always speed bumps in the form of mistrust, issues from the past or a jealous floozy.

I liked how the author was able to bring the characters to life. The way they were portrayed one could not help but feel all their emotions jumping off the pages.  This made it easy to have a connection with them. You may find yourself crying, laughing and screaming when you follow Jaime and Cole on their emotional journey. I loved the way Cole’s family embraced Jamie making her feel loved and appreciated. She has been through so much so she definitely deserved to feel that way.

Make Me Whole is a heartwarming tale of passion, family, healing and friendships.  It shows that love has the power to heal our emotional scars.  It’s my belief that every part of this story will have an impact on its readers. You will find yourself hanging on to every word and it will leave you wanting more.

This is my first time reading this author’s work and after this book I would definitely be reading more. I can’t wait to see what next she has in store for her readers.

Kaithlin Shepherd was born and raised in Canada where she learned to figure skate and crafted a love affair with coffee. Growing up in a household filled by strong-headed women, she learned early on that life is what you make it. You’ve probably never met a bigger country music fan and in the words of Brooks and Dunn, she’s a die-hard ‘George Strait junkie.’ Constructing a world away from her real life, Kaithlin loves the feeling of creating a universe where her fans can forget about everything in their life. She loves writing about hot alphas and doesn’t shy away from turning up the heat with scorching hot sex scenes.
